PCC Contracting is still completing work on the east-side elevated walkway between the Darrin Communications Center (DCC) and the Jonsson Engineering Center (JEC). Construction is expected to continue into the fall semester as several long-lead-time items arrive and are installed, including precast stairs to the JEC plaza and new steel railings.
What’s Closed: The east-side elevated walkway between the Darrin Communications Center (DCC) and the Jonsson Engineering Center (JEC) remains under construction.
We anticipate reopening one half of the south side of the walkway to pedestrian traffic by August 28, 2026. The north half will remain closed and separated by construction barriers while work continues. Once work on the north side is complete, the south side will be temporarily closed so construction can proceed in that area.
The area beneath the entire walkway will remain closed until project completion due to the placement of equipment and the ongoing work under the walkway and in the plaza.
PLEASE NOTE: Periodic full walkway closures will be necessary to accommodate certain construction activities. During these times, alternate pedestrian routes must be used. We will make every effort to communicate these closures in advance; however, campus users should anticipate occasional full closures throughout the project.
How to Get Around: Alternate pedestrian routes between DCC and JEC are in place, with ADA accessibility incorporated into the routing plans. Project Duration: Construction is expected to continue through the fall semester as long-lead materials arrive and are installed. Intermittent closures of all or portions of the walkway should be expected during this time.
Full project completion is currently anticipated in November. Additional updates will be provided as work progresses.
