Beginning the morning of Monday, September 14, 2026, the upper deck walkway between the Darrin Communications Center (DCC) and Jonsson Engineering Center (JEC) will be temporarily closed to allow construction work to proceed on long-lead materials that have recently arrived on site.

Rob's career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute spans 38 years of leadership, dedication, and service. Throughout his tenure, he has played an integral role in planning, developing, and stewarding the Institute's physical campus.

A scheduled power shutdown will occur at the Houston Field House beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, to accommodate necessary electrical work.
During the shutdown, the building will operate on limited backup generator power for the remainder of the day while the work is completed. Some building systems and services may be temporarily unavailable or affected during this time.
After an extraordinary 46-year career in higher education, including 27 remarkable years of service at RPI, Steve Schwan, Director of Capital & Auxiliary Budget Planning, will retire effective September 15, 2026.
PCC Contracting is still completing work on the east-side elevated walkway between the Darrin Communications Center (DCC) and the Jonsson Engineering Center (JEC). Construction is expected to continue into the fall semester as several long-lead-time items arrive and are installed, including precast stairs to the JEC plaza and new steel railings.
