Campus Card

The Campus Card is your official RPI ID and an essential part of everyday campus life. All members of the RPI community are expected to carry their Campus Card at all times and present it when requested by a campus official. Use of the card is subject to the Campus Card Terms & Conditions.

Building Access
To request access to a building or report access issues, please contact Public Safety.

New Students or Employees
Visit the New to RPI page to get your first Campus Card.
Note: Hartford students and employees do not require an ID access card and can skip this step.

Guests, Vendors, or Special Card Requests
Head to the Campus Access Card page and complete the appropriate form. These requests must be submitted by an RPI department member not the guest or vendor needing the ID card.

Changing Preferred Name on Student ID

  1. In order to change your preferred name on your campus ID card, you must first process the name change with the Registrar's office. This can be done here:

https://registrar.rpi.edu/services/academic-records/chosen-or-preferred-name

  1. Once the change has been made by the Registrar's office, you can then submit an ID Category or Name Change Request Form from the Campus Card Office website. You will be able to attach a new headshot when completing this form and will be issued a new ID with your updated name and (if applicable) new photo.

https://webforms.rpi.edu/campus-id-request-form?request=change

When the form has been submitted, the Campus Card Office will print the new ID card within 24-48 hours and notify the student at their RPI email address that the new ID is ready for pick-up. The student must return the previously used ID card when picking up the new one or will be charged for a lost ID card.
