Sage Avenue, along with its north sidewalk and campus entrance, will be temporarily closed as RPI Facilities Management works on a project to replace leaking steam pipes.
No, this project is unrelated to the September 9 steam outage. The work on Sage Avenue was planned independently and was scheduled prior to that event.
The roadway, sidewalk, and entrance to the academic campus off Sage Avenue will be closed starting September 22 and will remain closed for approximately five to six weeks. Please see the map below indicating closed and open areas around the excavation site.

Sage Avenue will be closed between the crosswalk at the Troy Building and the crosswalk on the east side of E Dorm for most of the duration of the project.
No. All RPI parking lots will remain open throughout the project.
Yes. Pedestrians should follow signage showing where to cross Sage Avenue.
Yes. Pedestrian crossings will be clearly marked.
Street parking will not be available on the north or south side of Sage Avenue between the crosswalk at the Troy Building and the crosswalk on the east side of E Dorm. Please follow signs indicating where parking is permitted.
Vehicles can access the academic campus through the College Avenue entrance.
ADA-accessible parking on the academic campus will remain available, but not from Sage Avenue. Please use the College Avenue entrance to access ADA-accessible parking.
The expected work hours for the excavation team are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Bus routes and shuttles that normally run along Sage Avenue will be rerouted during construction.
Residents around campus will be impacted by road and sidewalk closures.
Some campus deliveries may need to be rerouted during construction.
No. The excavation area will be surrounded by barricades and fencing, and the condensate line being repaired will not be in use. Water and utilities on campus will not be affected.
